Crolly Distillery Experience

Nestled in the heart of the Donegal Gaeltacht, the Crolly Distillery offers a unique whiskey adventure blending rural Irish culture with award-winning premium spirit.
Housed in a restored 1902 stone building in the village of Croithlí, near Mount Errigal, it’s the first licensed distillery in the county since 1840.

Expert guides lead you through the building’s rich past — once a carpet factory serving kings and presidents, a British Army barracks during the War of Independence, and home to the world-famous Crolly Dolls.

Discover why Donegal is seen as whiskey’s ancestral home, with stories of distilling dating back to the 6th century.

Explore Croithlí’s whiskey-making process from grain to glass. Watch as master distillers use vintage Charentais Cognac stills over direct fire, creating the Maillard effect — a technique that imparts a unique flavour and character to their premium Irish whiskey.

Tour upgrades include tasting three premium single malts with expert-led nosing notes. You can also opt for a private VIP tasting, fill your own cask-strength bottle, and handwrite your personalised label.

The visitor centre includes a whiskey shop, coffee shop, and full bar where you’ll often find live music sessions or cocktail making lessons. Tours run daily, 11am–7pm. Wheelchair accessible, with parking at the door. Book at thecrollydistillery.com
